Good Friday and Grief

More than any other season, Good Friday and Easter is a season of grief.

To illustrate this, the last article I wrote was “Suicide and Survivor’s Guilt”.

Many people that I talked to are reminded of those who have passed in the light of Jesus' death and resurrection.

I tend to compartmentalize my grief, either ignoring my grief, analyzing my grief, or being encompassed by my grief.

As I was waking up this morning, I realized that I even with all of the preparation for Good Friday service, I had not emotionally engaged with my grief over my sin and the need for Christ to die in my place to save me.

So I took time and created space for myself to experience my grief intead of shoving my emotions to the side. I sat down, read Matthew 27, and spent time in reflection and grief.

How are you setting aside time to engage with the emotional weight and grief concerning Jesus’ death on the cross?
